Message from the Founder

After my retirement from active service of Government of Himachal Pradesh, I wanted to keep myself busy in similar activities which I had been doing during my service period. In 2009 with the encouragement and support of some of my retired fellows, I could establish Hill Agriculture and Rural Development Promotion Society and could give it a shape of an Institution by registering it under the Himachal Pradesh Societies Registration Act 2006. The main objective of establishing this organization was to serve.

the farming communities and people of rural areas in developing agriculture and horticulture and provide employment opportunities to unemployed youths. Just after its establishment, the HARP could get an assignment of preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) of integrated watershed Management and National Watershed Development Project for Rainfed Areas (NWDPRA) in the districts of Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Shimla and Kinnaur. This was a great initiation of HARP and I, due to my past experience could prepare DPRs of 28 watershed of NWDPRA of Agriculture Department, Integrated Watershed Management Project (IWMP) of Rural Development Department, Himachal Pradesh. Thereafter, we had been getting projects after projects for implementation from Government departments, public sector as well as private sector. The size and level of HARP has also been increased and are in a position to execute bigger size projects including foreign aided projects. Our main slogan is “हमारा प्रयास गाँव का विकास” and mission is to provide sustainable livelihood to rural poor and other underprivileged through participatory practices. Only time will tell what lies ahead but we will continue to evolve and have fun while we create and inspire.
